Preoperative meniscal extrusion in the coronal plane strongly predicts clinical and morpho- logical outcomes. Marked preoperative meniscal extrusion, even in a patient with symptoms after partial meniscectomy, should prompt an appraisal of whether allograft replacement may be more appropriate than a meniscal substitute.
